The screen shot of the devil wears prada clipet is what attracted me to this assistant role. I was aware of Whitehair co as a company through previous contacts and hearing good feedback i was excited to work there, so I was over the moon when I found out I made it for a trial day.
I started straight away, there and then. Being thrown in the deep end is an understatement. I have never experienced anything like it.
Firstly everything is done on computer via the Internet NO PAPER I know we're in an era of technology but this was soo different to my other internships. They have this spreadsheet called guidelines which you have to refer to for help no questions to be asked, so I had to pre teach myself everything. The amount of things I got wrong I thought my life was going to depend on it. Even getting a coke from the shop I got wrong how please don't even ask me because it embarrassing that I got it wrong 4 times.
When I finally got my head round the technology And how it all worked I thought I was getting somewhere 50% arguably yes. I still had more to learn, more to get wrong. I think in this circumstance it's true you only learn from your mistakes because once you get something wrong you are so careful not to do it again.
One thing i can say is that those two months were definitely the most I have ever worked but also the most i have ever learnt in my life and I will take that with me for the rest of my career. There were times where I literally just wanted run away and never look back but I stuck in there and knew if I couldn't handle that then I'm in the wrong career path because it will only get harder.
As it got closer towards London fashion week the days got longer and the week got harder. I never realised how much effort went into ticket requests but also, how many random people ask for tickets I think many are confused with what LFW is seriously about and who fashion week is for, but in all honesty I quite enjoyed the hard work.
All the hard work payed off in the end. London Fashion Week was successful. And clients were happy
I hope this is a bit inspo to you guys wanting to to do fashion because sometimes you just need someone to say hang in there buddy, never take the easy way out because you never know where it could lead you.
